As one of the artists selected for the Lancashire textile Gallery commission, I explored the influence of Indian subcontinent on fashion and textile practices connected with Lancashire textile heritage. Drawing on the woodblocks and textiles in the collections of Lancashire Museums, a work titled “Tree of Life” was co-created at the Queen Street Mill and Textile Museum, Burnley. The focus of the project was to create a safe space through block printing workshop where hidden histories of Indian textiles could be shared. The participants experienced wood block printing and contributed towards building the image for tree by printing their chosen block and signing the artwork.

This project is commissioned and supported by The Super Slow Way. This work was exhibited online at the Textile website and at the British Textile Biennial – 2023.
