Engaging with the community at Parca (Peterborough Asylum and Refugee Community Association), a series of workshops were held at the community centre. Over eight weeks, a series of block printed textiles were co-created, for the purpose of celebrations at the centre. Having spent some time initially at the centre, speaking to the volunteers, it felt like ideal space to work in block printing and creating textiles. A series of workshops were designed, to build the skill sets around pattern ,colour and stitch eventually culminating in creating a series of tea towels and runners for the centre. This event culminated in celebration at the end of the workshops. This project was commissioned and supported by Metal Peterborough. Here’s a link to an article published in The Moment Magazine.
